Business Networking in Google Town Hall with 123-Reg

It’s really interesting for me when I network outside of 4Networking. I reckon I’ve got into a bit of a comfort zone thing with 4N, so always like the experience of other networking events.
Yesterday I was invited to speak at an event hosted by 123-Reg at Google HQ London – in the Town Hall.
Firstly, I was dead excited just to get a look round Google – the Town Hall is an awesome venue and was filled for the 123-Reg event with about 120 of their clients in the room – talking to some of them beforehand they were mainly London based small businesses and all of them keen to learn from the speakers in the room.
First up was Matt Mansell – Group MD for 123-Reg who talked about the changing face of domains and the impact of the new Top Level Domains. Interesting stuff and left me wondering if a .ninja domain would be right for me? (seriously, I have now registered my interest in some .music domains).
I followed Matt and helped the audience to understand how to join up their online and offline networking and particularly how to use the hashtag from an event to connect with the other people there – in this case the Twitter hashtag was #GTH123.
Nick Leech – Group Marketing Director for 123-Reg gave us the most fact packed presentation I have ever seen – full of incredible hints and tips on how to promote yourself online.
Barney Grossman – Conversions Exec for 123-Reg helped everyone to understand how to get their website converting more visitors into click-throughs and sales with the incredible piece of information that Google trialled 42 different shades of blue before choosing exactly the right shade for their sponsored links – tiny changes in behaviour can make a massive difference when you work on the scale that Google do.
After lunch, Richard Robinson of Google indulged us with some insights into what is happening in Google’s world in the near future.
Seriously great day, I learnt so much from the other speakers and have connected with loads of people who were at the event since – one of them even came to see me speak again at the Franchise Show at ExCeL a couple of days after this event AND joined 4Networking as a result.
Thank you so much to 123-Reg for inviting me to be part of it.
