We love business shows at 4Networking. It is a huge opportunity for us to engage with people who might not have heard about us yet, but, by their very presence, have a desire to grow their business.
4Networking had a massive presence at the South East Business Expo. The show was held at the Boleyn Ground, Upton Park – home of West Ham United Football Club. We ran the networking breakfast, we ran the speed networking, we had a stand there and we had speaking slots for all three directors, Brad Burton in the keynote hall and Terry Cooper and I in the workshop areas.
It turned out to be a spectacular success for us, with seven people who have never attended 4Networking events before joining on the day.
A couple of things that I’ve learnt from doing loads of business shows over the years:
- Keep smiling – you’re there, you never know who the next person to roll up to your stand will be.
- Get out into the aisle and engage with people, don’t expect them to engage with you first.
- If you’ve got a speaking slot – promote it yourself, use Twitter and other social media to make sure people know you’re there.
- Connect with people who were there after the event. Find out what the hashtag is and make sure you follow that stream on Twitter and engage with other people tweeting.
We’ve got loads of business shows coming up over the next few months. Keep an eye on my blog and the 4Networking forum to see where and when they are.
